On 18 June 2026, members of the Tallinn District of the Women’s Voluntary Defence Organization gathered in the garden of the Under and Tuglas Literary Institute museum for a conversation with the writer Lilli Luuk to talk about her novel „Ööema“. The discussion was moderated by journalist and diplomat Tiina Maiberg.

Published in 2024, „Ööema“ explores the difficult choices faced by women and men in a post-war Estonian village, bringing to light long-silenced stories and questions that defy simple answers. Lilli Luuk has received the Friedebert Tuglas Short Story Award twice: first in 2018 for her debut short story „Auk“, and again in 2021 for „Kolhoosi miss“.
