The Under and Tuglas Literary Institute and Estonian Estonian Museum of Architecture invite everyone to join us on Friday, 4 September 2026 at 5:30 PM for an architecture tour of Rahumäe.

The tour begins with a walk through the Rahumäe area, where we will explore the residential architecture characteristic of Nõmme and Rahumäe. We will learn how the architectural styles of different periods have shaped the character of the area. Along the way, we will see Nõmme houses typical of the 1930s, as well as a postmodernist residence from the 1980s.

The tour concludes at the Under and Tuglas Literary Institute’s museum. Designed by architect Edgar Johan Kuusik, the house was home to both poet Marie Under and writer Friedebert Tuglas. Since 1976, the building has housed a museum, whose interior architecture we will explore in greater detail.

The architecture of the area will be introduced by Epp Alatalu, while the museum’s interior architecture will be presented by Killu Raja, Senior Museum Operations Specialist at the Under and Tuglas Literary Institute. The event is part of the Literary Institute’s museum’s jubilee events.

Admission: €15 (tickets are available through Fienta or at the Estonian Museum of Architecture ticket office).

We will meet at the Literary Institute museum at Väikese Illimari 12. The tour will last up to 1.5 hours.

The tour is organised in cooperation between the Estonian Museum of Architecture and the Estonian Academy of Sciences Under and Tuglas Literary Institute. The event is supported by the Tallinn Culture and Sports Department.
